do•doc at the scale of a school
For one year, do•doc and the opendoc are deployed in a school to encourage knowledge sharing between classes.
Since our 6-month collaboration with Serge Selvestrel, first grade teacher at the Lacordaire school, and Olivier Fosse, educational technology trainer (FIP) at the Académie de Paris, sparked the interest of other teachers, we came back to the school this school year to deploy the mobi.doc and do•doc building blocks in their classes. A shared project, Shared digital practices and publications, currently underway, was designed and set up with the following teaching goal: documenting / reporting on one’s practices as a student and one’s knowledge, to share and pool them with other students, and/or “writing” multimedia creations, then exhibiting, presenting and sharing them…
Teachers and their students collect (and/or import) traces during school activities, which they use immediately or select later. Depending on the teachers’ goals and the students’ ideas, the media produced this way can lead to publications: an audio version of a children’s picture book, reading/observation games, “enriched” written traces in history, a “catalog” of handwriting gestures... These publications are then shared with classmates through a dedicated, secure website; a username/password may be required to access some publications.
The building blocks used in this project are: do•doc and mobi.doc for capturing and gathering media, then do•doc for the classes to create edited traces/stories, and finally the opendoc for publishing online.
