Versions of Les Cahiers du Studio
Over the past few months, we made several adaptations of our software Les Cahiers du Studio for various seminars and conferences.
The first version was created for the association of the Rencontres internationales de Lure. Their annual event, a themed week about writing in all its forms in the village of Lurs, could not take place in 2020 – for the first time since 1953, for reasons we all know. The idea quickly emerged to set up a participatory platform where content (photos, texts, videos, sounds) would be published over a week. Participants and members of the association who asked for it could also contribute their stories and memories in an “OFF” section, directly accessible from the platform.
In this context, and to recapture some of the spirit of the Rencontres, a discussion module based on the published content was set up: some media of the timeline can be discussed, as shown by a bubble in the top right corner.
This was especially useful for the recorded talks broadcast in the program: participants could find the speakers and ask them questions while watching, at their own pace, the videos specially prepared for the Rencontres. This system was preferred to “live” broadcasting, which requires being available at a specific time.
All in all, this led to more than 250 discussions out of a total of 471 media, more than 1000 messages exchanged, 250 registered users and very good feedback. Loïc le Gall, board member of the Rencontres internationales de Lure, also made a printed version of this timeline, several meters long, which was distributed with the association’s quarterly bulletin La Lettre. The platform is still available here: https://dailleurs.delure.org/
This work was done with the help of Céline Chenu, Philippe Dabasse and Nicolas Taffin.
A few months later, this version was reused at the request of the Campus Fonderie de l’Image and the designer Simon Renaud for the 2020 International Typography Symposium Text and confused. The graphic design was entirely reworked and some features adjusted, as the event took place over a single day this time.
Finally, one last adaptation is being developed together with the design union AFD. It will be published early 2021 and will showcase the content of the pointcommun.design exhibition and talks.
